Warehouse Supervisor

Location: Kearny, New Jersey - United States
The Warehouse and Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the performance and continued growth of shipping department of the Kearny, NJ manufacturing facility, including the safety of all employees, process optimization, and training and development. The Warehouse and Shipping Supervisor manages and oversees all daily shipping activities at high levels of effectiveness. This includes willingness to demonstrate how to safely and properly operate equipment, ensure operational procedures are up to date and are used consistently, quality of work, monitoring inventories. This role is essential to the successful operations of the Kearny Roofing and Asphalt site.
This position reports directly to the Plant Controller.
Lives the Owens Corning Safety Stand and meets all safety requirements. Safety is a condition of employment
Participates in the safety, quality, TPM and housekeeping programs as established within the plant; including but not limited to Focused Improvement Events, Safety Committee, etc.
Lead logistic operations and a team of 8+ personnel.
Manage workgroup to proactively achieve zero injuries / safety incidents.
Participates in the investigation of safety incidents and leads root cause analysis to drive for permanent resolution
Resource shift in order to meet shipping and customer demands.
Sustain high levels of product quality, with a target of zero SEC's (Service Exception Complaints). Root cause SEC issues and ensure proper controls are in place to prevent future issues.
Communicate expectations and hold team members accountable for delivering results.
Demonstrates flexibility to changing priorities as business needs dictate.
Foster an environment that promotes teamwork and inclusion.
Maintain plant housekeeping expectations for the shipping and warehouse areas.
Ensures all finished material is counted and placed in proper location for storage.
Communicate any concerns or issues that occur during the shift.
Hold start of shift huddle to communicate expectations
Ensure that shift employees have adequate coverage for breaks while filling orders
Ensure verification of inbound and outbound freight.
Conducts daily inventories of raw materials and finished goods and investigates variances
Ensures accurate and reliable inventory balances
Develops and maintains monthly cycle count schedule and spot counts as needed.
Process daily activity reports
Hold communications as needed with customer service center, transportation personnel, sales force, regional planning
Acts decisively and shows a strong sense of urgency to ensure follow through of established goals
Maintain good working relationship with carriers and customers
Ensure effective roll-out of IVC Inventory management system
Develop new shipping team members to meet department expectations and requirements
Maintains forklift records and creates work orders for the equipment.
Performs job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to the environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal.
Identifies and participates proactively in learning opportunities, and develops expertise in those areas.
Ensures standard operating procedures and processes are in place.
Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of this position, as directed by area leader.
Required Experience:
Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred, HS Diploma required
2 - 5 years' work experience in manufacturing, industrial, logistics, accounting or related field required
Union experience helpful
Strong knowledge of SAP desired
Experience making high-impact decisions in fast-paced environment.
Prior people leadership experience strongly preferred.
Good communication skills to ensure shipping employees understand goals for the shift and expectations.
Experience utilizing computer programs and Microsoft Office products.
